I just realized that it's been over a year since I posted a journal here...ack. I promise I really have been here; looking at your wonderful artwork, reading your delicious poetry, and leaving comments too!

Life's been kind of interesting lately. I'm making some dolls for a movie...I'll be in those tiny credits at the end that fly by too fast to read ;) and I've been working away steadily at my dolls...just having the usual fun. Ready for summer to quit and looking forward to Fall!

The Land of Crow Spiritsthe skies are empty,
and the wood is silent.
there are bird bones in the snow,
and ebony feathers.
blood, bright against the white.
the trees echo with memory only,
of a long lost raucous cacophony.
the tears freeze on my face
in this place of loss.
i tie the feathers into my hair,
and closing my eyes;
shake the bones,
finding the wings within to fly
to the land of crow spirits. The Final Daya crow suspended in white space,
perched upon a dying winter tree.
a sudden thunderclap eclipses the world;
and caught in the bird's burning eye,
the reflection of a goddess;
teeth worn down by centuries
of chewing human bones
in barren fields,
bloodied runes of war entwined in her hair.
for a brief moment she is captured in a flash of white hot light,
her gleeful, greedy grin and dark, maddened eyes;
before her smile begins to melt in confusion and in pain,
to be replaced by a vast mushroom cloud;
all memories lost and all petty triumphs forgotten,
buried beneath a fall of poisoned snow. Crow Queenshe stands within the echoing
cathedral of alders;
pale arms outstretched,
beckoning to the falling darkness.
silent crows peer down
from between stripped
and dripping branches,
to behold their queen;
a circlet of bone upon her brow,
spiralling tattoos of frost
etched into her skin.
a raw wind heavy with
autumnal secrets rustles her
glistening feathers,
and rattles the dead leaves caught
in her midnight hair;
creating a ghostly chorus as
lustily she sings ancient corbae songs
in her cracked voice.
her obsidian eyes fill with starlight,
and she smiles;
stretching langorously as the orange light
of the rising harvest moon caresses her slim form;
limning her heavy wings with cold spectral fire.
